Nominated by President Joe Biden
To complement the work of the Environment and Natural Resources Division, President-elect Biden committed to establish an Environmental and Climate Justice Division within the U.S. Department of Justice. The new division, led by the Special Assistant for Environmental Justice, will pursue criminal suits against corporate polluters to the fullest extent permitted by law. The division, which will coordinate with the EPA’s Office of Civil Rights, will seek to address legacy pollution that includes real remedies to make communities safe, healthy, and whole.
